Larapinta

Ara begins her daytime journey...

Ara is the name of a Dreamtime spirit in the Arrernte people's stories. The Arrernte are an Indigenous group from Central Australia who are connected to the Red Kangaroo. 

These watercolor works were painted after completing the Larapinta trail in Australia's rugged Northern Territory. Expecting a harsh, dry vista, instead I was greeted with soft, dusky colours so reminiscent of Albert Namatjiras beautiful works.
